Early Start (0-3)

What is Early Start?
Early Start is California’s program for infants and toddlers (ages 0-3) who have developmental delays or are at risk of developmental disabilities. The program provides early intervention services to help children achieve developmental milestones in areas such as movement, communication, cognitive skills, social-emotional development, and self-help abilities."
At Families United, we partner with families to guide them through the Early Start process, from screenings and assessments to accessing services, all while providing culturally responsive care and advocacy.

Why Early Intervention Matters
Research has shown that the first three years of a child’s life are critical for brain development. For children with developmental delays, early intervention can significantly improve their ability to learn new skills, improve their communication and behavior, and increase their chances of success in school and life.
By getting involved early, families can help their children build a strong foundation for future growth and learning. Early intervention not only benefits the child but also provides families with the knowledge and tools to advocate for their child’s needs.
